Robert “Bob” Lincoln, a commissioner on the Great Neck Park District Board of Commissioners seeking his seventh term, will not be facing an election challenge in December, according to campaign filings.

Only Lincoln filed papers for re-election, which were due last Friday.

Members of the Board of Commissioners, currently consisting of Tina Stellato, Frank Cilluffo and Lincoln, face elections every three years.

Lincoln is its longest-serving member, having been on the board since 2001.

Stellato unseated Dan Nachmanoff in 2017 and Cilluffo was first elected in 2014 after the retirement of Ruth Tamarin, who served as commissioner for more than 15 years.

Lincoln said he originally ran because he wanted to modernize the park district’s facilities and ensure they were maintained. Since then, Lincoln said, the district has remained on a “financially stable base” and continually worked to upgrade the infrastructure.

Some of the upgrades include the refurbishing of the Parkwood pool complex, the Andrew Stergiopoulos ice rink, and redone playgrounds, Lincoln said.

“I still really enjoy the job, enjoy doing it, and I’d like to continue,” Lincoln said. “I think we have some interesting things on the horizon that I would really like to be a part of.”

Among those things are possibly creating an indoor recreation center and completing a community needs survey, Lincoln said.

“We’re going to work hard to get participation from the community,” Lincoln said. “They’re the owners of the park district. We work for them.”

The park district’s jurisdiction spans most of the Great Neck peninsula, save for Saddle Rock, Lake Success, Great Neck Estates, Harbor Hills and University Gardens, according to the district website.

The election is on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Polls will be open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
