Bagel Boss in East Northport Supports the Alzheimer's Association

For the month of June, local businesses in Long Island will “go purple” with special bagels, cookies, and donuts to support the Alzheimer’s Association and its mission to end Alzheimer’s disease.

Bagel Boss locations in Hewlett, East Northport, Oceanside, Merrick, Roslyn, Jericho and Carle Place have purple bagels and special “purple and white” cookies. Family Bagels of Plainview are also going purple in June with purple bagels to raise Alzheimer’s Awareness.

And Once Bitten Donuts in Massapequa Park has created the “Petey’s ‘Nice as Anything'” purple donut in honor of owner Catherine Logozzo’s father.

Proceeds from sales of these purple treats will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, Long Island Chapter and The Longest Day.

Andrew Hazen, CEO of Bagel Boss, says “My family has been affected by Alzheimer’s, like so many others in Long Island. The bagels and cookies are a fun way to support this cause that means so much to me.”

Judy Wichter, associate director of development at the Alzheimer’s Association explains, “Each year, we mark the day with the most light, June 20, through The Longest Day campaign.

Anyone can get involved by creating their own fundraising activity and supporting the Alzheimer’s Association. While we celebrate on June 20, people can fundraise throughout the year. It’s about shining a light on this important cause by doing something you enjoy.”

More than 6 million people are living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia in the United States and more than 410,000 of them live in New York. The Alzheimer’s Association, Long Island Chapter provides free care and support to families affected by the disease in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Judy Wichter says, “The Alzheimer’s Association thanks the participating Bagel Boss locations, Family Bagels, and Once Bitten Donuts along with all our supporters for raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and making our work possible. We couldn’t do it without their generosity and commitment.”
