Accident just off Plandome Road causes cars to hit building

A man suffering a medical emergency crashed into two parked cars and a building in the middle of the afternoon on Thursday in Manhasset, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

According to Sixth Squad detectives, while traveling eastbound on Vanderbilt Avenue near Plandome Road in his 2005 Honda Accord close to 3:00 p.m., an unnamed, 65 year old male operator “suffered a medical emergency and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles.”

As a result of the collision, the parked vehicles continued on and struck a nearby, unspecified building. Upon police arrival, the unconscious male was transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
