The $114.3 million Herricks school budget for 2018-19 passed on a 885-382 vote on Tuesday night.
The number of residents registered to vote in the district is 19,900.
School board members Nancy Feinstein and Brian Hassan, both incumbents running unopposed, were voted in with 928 and 774 votes, respectively.
The budget represents a 2.68 percent, or $3 million, increase from the current budget.
The tax levy will increase by 2.55 percent.
Including the 2018-19 tax levy, the average tax levy increase over the last three years is 1.44 percent.
Feinstein, in a previous interview, said she is proud the board has managed to operate under the tax cap.
“We manage to do that and maintain [and] expand programs for all of our students, all while having a pretty low per pupil spending – as compared to our [comparative] school districts,” Feinstein said.
This will be Feinstein’s third term on the board. The Roslyn resident has three children who have all attended Herricks schools. Her youngest daughter will graduate from the high school this year.
Hassan, an Albertson resident, will also be serving his third term on the board. He has two children who have graduated from the Herricks schools, and a daughter currently completing her junior year at the high school.
Feinstein said in a previous interview that she is looking forward to continuing to grow the positive relationship between the board and the administrators and teachers.
Hassan said in a previous interview he is looking forward to seeing the work done with the $25 million bond the board passed.
The work, including a new turf field at the high school, new bleachers, new comfort station and new scoreboard, among other improvements, is expected to be done in 2022.
He also said he wants to continue enhancing the district’s technology and infrastructure, as well as math and science curriculum.
“These goals are very achievable based on the team that we have currently assembled and the successes that we have already accomplished in the short time that we have been together,” Hassan said.
