The Island Now

Port Washington Board of Education incumbents Nora Johnson, Larry Greenstein, and Beth
Weisburd, along with present BOE members, ushered in a demand that the Port Washington School District critically evaluate current district policies, curriculum, and social constructs, regarding equity and inclusion issues within our schools.

Listening to community members and striving to eliminate bias based on race, gender, sexual identity, learning ability, language, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, the incumbents advanced this agenda by enlisting the NYU Metro Center for Research on Equity and Transformation of Schools to work with the district to create a socially conscious action plan. Taking on this moral imperative fulfills a promise to improve the school environment and positively impacts the greater Port Washington community.

This illustrates their strong commitment to fairness for all our children. Please
consider their just work when casting your vote on May 18.
