A drive-thru coronavirus testing facility exclusively for children has opened in Manhasset.

PM Pediatrics, an urgent care facility located on Norther Boulevard, opened its pediatric-only drive-thru Wednesday, the first such on Long Island. It has since been followed by a location in Selden, also operated by PM.

The tests are only available to those who are pre-approved for coronavirus testing, according to the location’s website, and parents are advised to use the chain’s PM Pediatrics Anywhere telemedicine mobile app or visit a PM Pediatrics office to determine if the child should be tested.

Upon approval, patients will be welcome to visit between 10:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m. for free testing, with the site located in the parking lot under a tent.

Results will be then available in 4 to 6 business days, the company says.

“While early anecdotal evidence points to children being less susceptible to severe COVID-19 illness, we still want to offer a test to children presenting the specific symptoms, including fever, dry cough and shortness of breath,” Dr. Jeffrey Schor, co-CEO of PM Pediatrics, said in a statement to the long Island Business News.

PM Pediatrics, had previously opened similar sites in New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsylvania. The company has six additional locations on Long Island, including Commack, Selden, North Babylon, Syosset, Massapequa Park and Rockville Centre; as well as a location in Bayside, Queens. As of now, Selden is the only other office operating a pediatric-only drive-thru facility.
