A Manorhaven man was arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly driving while intoxicated after the car he was driving struck another car in Roslyn Heights which in turn struck a pedestrian, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Oscar Fernando Suarez Marquez, 24, was traveling southbound on Mineola Boulevard in a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder around 11:30 p.m. on Friday when he hit a Toyota RAV 4, officials said.

The RAV 4, which was involved in an earlier vehicular accident, officials said, then hit a 21-year-old pedestrian who suffered multiple injuries.

The pedestrian, whose name was not disclosed, was transported to a local hospital where he was in critical, but stable, condition.

Officials did not respond to a request for an update on the status of the pedestrian or others involved in the incident.

After police conducted an investigation, Suarez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in the third degree, according to a news release.

Suarez was scheduled to be arraigned on Christmas Day at First District Court in Hempstead, but efforts to reach law enforcement officials about his status were unavailing.
