Maspeth Federal’s New Hyde Park branch gets ‘overdue’ update

Maspeth Federal Savings Bank will mark the completion of an extensive renovation at its New Hyde Park branch at 801 Jericho Turnpike on Sept. 16.

The seven-month project revamped the 34-year-old building’s interior and exterior to make it look consistent with the bank’s other five branches, according to Maspeth Assistant Secretary Jill Nicolois. It was the final phase of a branding initiative to unify the appearance across all the bank’s locations.

Maspeth has done cosmetic work at its other branches to make them look uniform, but the New Hyde Park branch had an especially great need for an update, Nicolois said.

“We had these mustard vinyl chairs that were bolted to the floor. It looked like a diner,” she said. “We were way overdue.”

The branch will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the renovations at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
