Mineola Chapter helping those in need

The Island Now
Donating PPE, Hats, Scarves, Gloves, Toiletries and Wigs to Bethany House (a womens and children shelter in Baldwin, NY).

Mineola Chapter # 716 of the Order of the Eastern Star – State of New York (which meets in New Hyde Park, NY) has a long-standing history of helping those in need within the community since 1922.

Especially during Covid, they have ramped up their efforts by organizing donation drives to help various community organizations such as Bethany House (in Baldwin) and Littig Houses Community Center (in Port Washington).

For February alone they were able to make countless donations and deliveries of hats, blankets and socks to help the senior citizens at Littig Houses Community Center and provide PPE, hats, scarves, gloves, socks, toiletries and wigs to the Bethany House (a women’s and children homeless shelter).

Fueled by this year’s message, “Many Hearts … One Love”; their generosity does not stop there. In March, they are organizing a food drive to help the New Life Center Long Island, in June they will be helping the Veterans, and in the fall a school supplies drive to help the students be better prepared for their ensuing scholastic year.
