A Mineola man was arrested for allegedly killing a motorcyclist while intoxicated last week, according to a the Nassau County Police Department.

Detectives said 35-year-old John Marron was making a left-hand and U-turn near the intersection of Old Country Road and Willis Avenue after 9:30 p.m. July 19 when the accident occurred. Marron crashed his car into a 35-year-old man driving a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle, police said.

After the crash, the male driver of the motorcycle, whose name was not provided by officials, was taken to a local hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward, according to the release.

Officials said Marron was operating his vehicle while intoxicated and placed under arrest. Marron faces charges of second-degree vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment, police said.

Efforts to reach law enforcement representatives for further comment on the incident were unavailing.
