Five Herricks music teachers were invited to guest conduct festivals across New York State this school year. As distinguished leaders in their field, members of the Herricks Music Department faculty are often invited to share their expertise with students from other districts and regions. Each festival occurs over a range of two or three days and involves intensive rehearsals, culminating in a final performance.

This year the following teachers were honored to represent Herricks by guest conducting as follows:

  • Catherine Fish, Herricks HS Orchestra Director, conducted the NYSSMA Area All State (Zone 9) High School Symphony Orchestra on November 17th at Walkill High School.
  • James Ludwig, Herricks MS Chorus Director, conducted the Hampton Music Educators’ Association Middle School Honor Choir on January 12th at Riverhead High School.
  • Mark Bligh, Denton Avenue Band Director, conducted the Westchester County School Music Association Elementary All -County Band on March 2nd at SUNY Purchase.
  • Stephanie Lanuto, Denton Avenue Orchestra Director, conducted the SCMEA Division 1 Central All-County 5th & 6th Grade Orchestra on March 10th at Centereach High School.
  • Jennifer Phelan, Herricks MS Chorus and General Music Director, Orange County Music Educators’ Association Junior High School Chorus in May 2019.

Congratulations to these teachers for helping students reach their goals!
