A concert that will be held in Manhattan Monday will donate some of its proceeds to the Levels Teen Center at the Great Neck Library.
“Closing the Gap: The Musicals of Levinson and Weingarten” will feature songs by songwriters Dana Levinson and Stacey Weingarten, and will celebrate actress, comedian and former Levels worker Jackie Hoffman for her artistic accomplishments, according to a release.
Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the event starts at 7 p.m. at Joe’s Pub at the Public, 425 Lafayette St., according to the release.
Levinson, the composter, is a Levels aluma herself.
Tickets are $20 to $75 and can be purchased at the website, www.joespub.com, by calling 212-967-7555 or in-person at the Public Theater Box Office at the same address as Joe’s Pub.
“Levels helped me blossom,” Hoffman said in a statement. “The people there were a lot less mean than they were in High School.”
According to a statement, the proceeds will aid the teen program through the renovation of the Great Neck Library Main Branch renovation.
The night will feature many Broadway performers, including Gisela Adisa, currently in the production of “Beautiful,” according to the release.
The show will be directed by Samantha Saltzman, while the music will be directed by Andrew Wheeler, according to the release.
Close to 100 teenagers and adults expressed concerns at a special board meeting in August that the Main Branch renovations would result in drastic cuts to the Levels program. Library trustees later said there would be no staff cuts to the Levels program, which does several fully-staged theatre productions every year as well as a variety of arts programs, during the renovation of the Main Branch.
The Main Branch, located at 159 Bayview Ave.,will be closed for a year so repairs can be made to the building. The repairs will be funded by a $10.4 million bond approved by the voters in the Great Neck library system.
The three branches have changed their hours to accommodate for the closing of the Main Branch. Station Branch, located at 26 Great Neck Road, and Parkville Branch, located at 10 Campbell St., is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Lakeville Branch, located at 475 Great Neck Road, is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and will be closed Sundays.
