New Hyde Park Memorial High School’s student newspaper, The Chariot, received silver medal recognition from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
Newspapers published during the 2017-2018 school year were submitted for critique and a panel of experts provided valuable feedback for the current staff. This year, editors-in-chief Samuel Valentin and Aisha Abdelhamid plan to use the critique to make the paper even stronger.
“I’m proud of our staff in improving our score, as we had followed feedback received in the past year. It gives our paper a great confidence boost for the start of this year,” Sam said.
“I am so proud of the 2017-2018 staff,” Aisha added, “and although I was upset to see much of the team graduate, I am ecstatic for the upcoming year.”
