The New York Credit Union Association – Long Island Chapter, including Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union recently presented a $30,000 check to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, representing what would normally be the amount raised by that group’s annual Golf Outing.

For the past 28 years Long Island Credit Unions have conducted a charity golf outing to raise funds for non-profits in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. In 2020, 29th Annual Long Island Credit Unions Golf Outing was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the credit unions appealed to annual supporters and fulfilled their promise to Cohen Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Diabetes Program with a donation comparable to previous years.

“The pandemic wasn’t going to keep us from supporting the important work of Cohen Children’s Medical Center Pediatric Diabetes Program,” said Joe Tedesco, president and CEO of OFFCU. “We and our credit union colleagues from around Long Island are proud to have been able to keep up this tradition of support for kids and families undergoing such an immense challenge.”
