Two incumbent trustees, Kevin Fitzgerald and Archie T. Cheng, are running unopposed in the Village of Floral Park’s elections on Sept. 15.

The elections were delayed from March 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fitzgerald is seeking a fifth term as trustee. He has served on the board since 2011. Cheng is running for his third term. Both are members of the Citizens Party.

Cheng has been a resident of Floral Park since 1978 and has served as president of both the Floral Park-Bellerose and Sewanhaka school boards. He was appointed a trustee in 2016 after Trustee James Rhatigan died.

Both trustees have served as members of the village’s Third Track Task Force, dealing with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s project to build a third track on the Long Island Rail Road’s Main Line. The project is ongoing despite the pandemic.

There will be three polling stations, the Reliance firehouse, the pool building and the Atlantic Avenue firehouse.

Village officials said all registered voters may apply for an absentee ballot. Additionally, the county Board of Elections provides the village with a list of voters who opted to be put on a list of voters who vote by mail automatically, without having to apply.

The Village of New Hyde Park will hold its biannual election in March. The Village of North Hills is not holding elections this year either.
