The Floral Park village board recognized Kevin Kiss, a resident who recently stepped down as North End Civic Association president, during Tuesday’s meeting.

“If you know Kevin Kiss he’s a very quiet guy,” Floral Park Mayor Dominick Longobardi said. “Doesn’t say much, sits in the corner, gets you in a corner, asks you the question, offers advice, takes you into an area where you’re not sure where it’s going half the time but at the same time when you get out you get a lot of things done.”

Kiss served as president of one of the village’s four civic associations. He is also a member of the village’s emergency task force.

Longobardi said he can’t thank Kiss enough for all he gave to the community.

Longobardi added the he knows Kiss is “not done yet” in terms of helping the village.

Deputy Mayor Kevin Fitzgerald thanked Kiss for being a good advocate and for his willingness to always help out and serve.

Beyond Kiss’ efforts helping the village, Fitzgerald thanked Kiss for his friendship over the years.

Longobardi also thanked those who helped out with the Memorial Day Parade last weekend.

He thanked the American Legion, village Police Department, and Scouts for their efforts in helping put the parade on.

He also thanked the Department of Public Works for not only making sure the village was beautiful for the day, but also for cleaning up the following night.

Longobardi also reminded residents that this Saturday is the Belmont Stakes race.

While it is a beautiful day for the town, Longobardi said it also brings increased traffic.

Longobardi said there will be a police presence making sure traffic is safe and people aren’t doing things they shouldn’t be doing, to make sure it is an enjoyable day for everyone.
