If you’re thinking of proposing to that special someone this holiday season you should come to Herricks Jewelers, co-owner John Tore said.

What makes the Garden City Park jewelry store right off of Herricks Road and Jericho Turnpike special is the personal relationship the staff has with their clients, Tore said. Tore said he and his brother Mike run the jewelry store the “old school” way.

“We treat people like family,” he said. “We’re always hearing from our customers, ‘you are guys are so nice and so helpful!’”

Customers walking into the store can expect personal services like sales, jewelry repairs, custom designs, battery installations, watch repairs, buying gold and remounting diamonds, sapphires, diamonds, and rubies, Tore said.

“We truly want to help you find your piece,” Tore said.

When customers ask for anything specific, Herricks Jewelers will go out of their way to make it and get it, Tore said. Tore, a gemologist, said he or other staff members personally modify any jewelry that a client may request changes for.

The store sees many repeat customers, Tore said.

John said he and Mike took over the jewelry store with his brother Mike in 2005 and starting to work in the location in 1999. The jewelry store has been around for 40 years, Tore said.

Tore said the brothers are following the legacy of their father who opened a jewelry store in Jackson Heights after serving in World War II with their uncle who worked as a watchmaker.

“We came from a family of jewelers,” Tore said.“We are second-generation jewelers,”

“It’s more than making the sale,” he said. “We’re honest and we work hard.”
