“HouseSmarts,” a nationally syndicated home-improvement show, filmed one of its weekly segments in East Williston last Wednesday.

The segment featured Carrier Home Comfort and New Hyde Park-based T. F. O’Brien Cooling and Heating.

Brian Mitchell, a spokesman for Carrier, said the home comfort system company films a couple of segments a year for the show in houses across the country.

“We show people the power of taking out an old system … and putting in a new high efficient system in their home,” Mitchell said.

In the East Williston Avenue home, Mitchell said the company was replacing a 27-year-old system.

The old system is incredibly inefficient, he said.

“They’re spending a lot of money to heat and cool their home,” Mitchell said.

Carrier reaches out to local contractors for segments across the country.

In this case, T. F. O’Brien was picked.

Kerry O’Brien, owner of the air conditioning and heating company, is going to show what he does for his Long Island customers to people across the country, Mitchell said.

T. F. O’Brien specializes in heating and air conditioning installations and repairs.

Carrier is just one brand the Long Island contracting company services.

The 30-minute home improvement show is hosted by Lou Manfredini, a contractor and broadcast personality.

Manfredini is also the host of the “Mr. Fix-It” radio program in Chicago and a regular contributor on the “Today” show.

In the New York City area the show airs on WNBC.
