A New Hyde Park man was indicted on multiple charges relating to unauthorized touching, sexual abuse and practicing therapy without a license.
Sut-Ho Leung (also known as “Mike”), 60, of New Hyde Park, was arraigned last Friday on 18 counts, including 14 for allegedly practicing unlicensed massage therapy, two from forcible touching allegations and two for third-degree sexual abuse. On each count of unauthorized practice of a profession, Leung faces a maximum sentence of up to four years if convicted.
Leung is due back in court Nov. 12. He was was arraigned last Friday before Judge Robert Bogle.
An investigation began earlier this year when police were notified by a 48-year-old woman of inappropriate touching she had received during a massage by Leung at O Spa, located at 927 Franklin Ave. in Garden City.
The initial claim led to Leung being detained on Jan. 6.
Police said an ensuing undercover operation began in March focusing on O Spa, which is believed to be owned by Leung’s wife. Leung was caught on video allegedly continuing to practice without a license and was detained again on March 9.
The Nassau County district attorney’s office and Police Department then identified at least 10 potential victims who received a massage from Leung.
“A relaxing massage turned threatening and disturbing when this defendant allegedly used his massage table as a means to victimize clients,” said acting District Aattorney Joyce Smith. “NCDA believes there could be other victims and encourage anyone who believes they may have been victimized by the defendant to call the Special Victims Bureau at (516) 571-1266.”
Anyone convicted of third-degree sexual abuse conviction could face a sentence up to three months in prison.
Efforts to reach Leung’s lawyers for comment were unavailing.
