A Nassau County police officer rescued three people from a residential house fire on Sunday in New Hyde Park, according to the Police Department.

Detectives said 3rd Precinct officers responded to a house fire at Flower Lane in New Hyde Park on Sunday just before noon.  Officer Raymond Pescatore reportedly saw heavy smoke pouring out through every window in the home, according to a Police Department news release.

Pescatore entered the house and safely moved one man and two female residents from the burning residence. The New Hyde Park Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames in the attic with help from the Manhasset-Lakeville, Floral Park, South Floral Park, Mineola, Garden City, Franklin Square and Elmont fire departments, according to the news release.

Officials said the investigation into what caused the fire remains ongoing. Efforts to reach fire department and law enforcement officials for comment were unavailing.
