Readers Write: Beth Kierez for Floral Park-Bellerose Board of Education.

The Island Now

I am extremely pleased to write this letter recommending Beth Kierez to a position on the Floral Park-Bellerose Board of Education.

I met Beth when I became the principal of Benjamin N. Cardozo High School in September 2008.  She was an English teacher and right from my first interaction with her I knew that she was going to be one of the teachers that I could rely on.

She was a team player and unfailingly quick to volunteer for any special committee.   She was someone I could count on to get the job done and to always be involved.  Beth was an excellent teacher motivating her students with her enthusiasm, knowledge, and creativity.

In addition, during my time as principal, Beth stepped into a very crucial role as the coordinator of student activities. She led the students in planning activities at school and in the community.

There were over 4,000 students that attended the school.  She was there with the students before school, after school and on weekends. She was an exceptional teacher and an awesome Coordinator of Student Activities but that was not enough for her.

When Beth applied for the position of Assistant Principal of the English department, the choice was easy. She supervised over 40 teachers, paraprofessionals and school aides.

She was instrumental in improving the department by raising the standards.   I was very happy I hired her, and she remains the assistant rincipal of the English, ESL, Dance and Library Media departments at this time and has recently received her tenure.

Even more impressive than her resume as a teacher and Assistant Principal is the fact that she has found a way to balance her professional life while raising four children.  She is an incredible individual, hard-working, extremely dedicated and she was a pleasure to work with.

Beth Kierez will be an asset to Floral Park-Bellerose’s Board of Education.

I am confident that no one will work as hard in the position.

Principal Emeritus
