The Town of North Hempstead will be accepting bids to reconstruct the Clinton G. Martin Park parking lot in New Hyde Park.

Bids will be opened starting July 19 and remain open until Aug. 19.

The town budgeted $1 million for the parking lot repaving, as well as $50,000 for a study of the Clinton G. Martin community room, in the 2017-2021 capital plan.

The potential project follows the recent completion of the Clinton G. Martin Park Pool renovation, which the town unveiled at the end of June.

The $23 million project replaced the infrastructure of the 50-year-old pool and updated the design.

The preliminary plan for the renovation, outlined in the capital improvement plans, state the project will reconstruct and reconfigure the Clinton G. Martin parking lot.

The project may involve adjusting the entrance and exit of the park to improve safety and convenience for drivers.

Currently, the Clinton G. Martin Park has a British style parking lot. The entrance is on the left-hand side to enter, and the right-hand side to exit.

The town will work with Nassau County in regards to that aspect of the project, according to the capital plan description.
