A Williston Park man made terroristic threats to the Meadow Drive Elementary School in Albertson last week, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Officials said 42-year-old Goran Preda of Williston Park “expressed his desire to conduct a violent act” against Meadow Drive Elementary on a telephone call with school officials Thursday. The police did not specify in a news release what Preda said to the school, if anything prompted the phone call or how Preda was identified by school officials.

Police said school officials immediately initiated their lockdown protocol and contacted 911.

Preda was ultimately arrested without incident after officials conducted a “thorough investigation,” police said. He was charged with making a terroristic threat and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, but it was not specified if Preda had legal representation in the news release.

A temporary order of protection was issued, online court records showed. Records showed that Preda’s next court date is scheduled for Friday. Efforts to reach him were unavailing.

Law enforcement officials did not provide any further update on the incident.

Efforts to reach officials from the school or the Mineola school district for comment were unavailing.
