A fire damaged the vestibule, doorway and roof of the vestibule of a Williston Park home on Tuesday around 2:30 p.m., village officials said.

No one was injured in the fire that occurred at 44 Collins Ave., Williston Park Fire Chief John Perro said.

The cause was determined to be electrical, he said.

A homeowner who was present at the time called the department and got out safely on his own, Perro said.

About 50 firefighters responded, including members of the East Williston, Albertson and Mineola fire departments, Perro said.

The damage to the areas that burned is severe, said Kerry Collins, Williston Park building inspector.

Due to a swift response, the overall home was not severely damaged, he said.

Luckily someone was home to notice, Collins said, because otherwise the fire would have likely traveled and caused major damage.

Electric, gas and other utilities were disconnected until future remediation is done, he said.
