Contrary to advertisement, tobacco does not kill

The Island Now

The back page of your recent edition was an advertisement against pharmacies which sell cigarettes and tobacco products, claiming that they can cause cancer.

Both of my parents were very heavy smokers. My father smoked one package of Chesterfields a day and died at the age of 87. My mother smoked one package a day of Lucky Strike and Marlboro and lived to be 92.

It’s time for oncologists to tell the truth. Tobacco does not kill.
