Nassau County police are investigating a threat against a man and his son in Garden City Park on Saturday that they say was part of a scheme for money.
At noon on May 7, the 44-year-old man and his 19-year-old son got a phone call from an unknown person at the same time, police said.
The caller made violent threats against the man’s son and demanded money, police said.
During the call, police and detectives got another family member to send the son a text message telling him the call was a scheme, police said.
Police are asking anyone else who has received similar threatening calls to call the police department or 911.
All callers will stay anonymous.
