A dump truck crashed through the Harbour Hill Cleaners store at the intersection of Lincoln Ave. and Locust St. in Roslyn Heights on Tuesday morning, leaving one employee injured, according to police.

The crash occurred at 11:59 a.m., just one block away from Roslyn High School, police said.

The victim was taken a local hospital, police said. The extent of the victim’s injury is unknown, according to police.

Chris Cuartas, who owns a cell phone repair store located next to the dry cleaners, said he heard a “loud bang” when the truck crashed.

Cuartas said there were two people in the dry cleaners, the owner and a female employee. The female employee was injured in the accident. The owner was unharmed

“I ran outside to check on everyone in the [dry cleaners],” Cuartas said. “[The female employee] had cuts on her arms and forehead, and glass shards in her hair.”

Cuartas brought the female employee into his store until she was able to receive medical attention.

Cuartas said the he saw the driver of the truck walking down the block with his lunch in his hand after the crash occurred.

“It seems like he forgot to put the e-brake on,” Cuartas said. “The truck [must have] rolled down the hill and crashed into the building.”

According to Cuartas, the truck was removed a few hours later.

Efforts to reach Harbour Hill Cleaners were unavailing.
