E.M Baker School hosts sleep seminar

The E.M. Baker School PTO and the United Parent-Teacher Council Health Education Committee are sponsoring an informational talk and meeting for parents entitled, “Sleep Is Priceless!,” on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Baker School beginning at 9:30 a.m. 

Parents will learn about the importance of sleep for their children, as well as how to recognize possible sleep disorders, from Dr. Qanta Ahmed, sleep specialist at Winthrop University Hospital, author, journalist, and associate professor of medicine at SUNY Stony Brook. 

Ahmed will address such questions as: Does your child get enough sleep? What are the behavioral manifestations of inadequate sleep? What is the connection between sleep and your child’s academic performance? What is the connection between sleep and the use of technology? What are sleep disorders and when is it necessary to seek professional help?

This free event is open to the public. Baker School is located at 69 Baker Hill Road. RSVPs are requested at pta.emb@greatneck.k12.ny.us
