Police are investigating the robbery of an 88-year-old woman in the Village of Great Neck Plaza late Sunday morning.

The victim was walking down South Middle Neck Road near Schenck Avenue to go shopping at a local store, police said, when she was approached by two young men who demanded money while pointing a small knife at her waist.

The woman cooperated and gave the burglars her wallet which contained a small sum of cash.

Police said the suspects ran southbound on South Middle Neck Road after getting the wallet.

The woman described the two men as both between the ages of 18 and 20 and about 5’8,” police said. She also described one of the men as “Hispanic,” but was unsure of the other’s race, police said.

The incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. No arrests have been made and police said they are looking for any information on the incident.
