Fireworks damage Jericho Terrace door

Fireworks launched by an unidentified man from a tube damaged a door at a Mineola catering hall with approximately 100 people inside late last Thursday night.

The Nassau County Police Arson Bomb Squad said the blast occurred outside Jericho Terrace Catering Hall at 249 Jericho Turnpike on July 3 at 11:25 p.m. 

Police said witnesses saw the suspect was observed pointing what appeared to be a pipe in the direction of the catering hall.  

The suspect fled the scene on foot with the tube launcher and was last seen running south on Mineola Boulevard, according to police. 

Police said there were no injuries reported at the scene. They said the building incurred minimal damage from the explosion.
