Nearly two weeks after the death of Flower Hill Mayor Robert McNamara, the village has no plans so far on who will replace him.

“There has been no decision at this time,” Village Clerk Ronnie Shatzkamer wrote in an email sent April 28.

Shatzkamer added that the village’s board of trustees “may take action” at its meeting on Monday.

The issue of succession is not on the board’s agenda for the meeting, which includes two continued public hearings on storage pods and limited parking time on Ridge Drive East, respectively, as well as a proposed local law on recycling requirements.

McNamara, who died  April 15 of causes unrelated to COVID-19, had appointed Brian Herrington, a trustee, as his deputy mayor in 2017.

Herrington had no comment “at this time,” according to an email.

The late mayor had been stepping down from his position in favor of running as a trustee with the Flower Hill Party in the village’s election, originally set to take place in March but postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Flower Hill’s Board of Trustees will next meet via teleconference on Monday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. Residents can join the meeting by dialing in at 1(571)317-3122 with the access code 465 881 949 or by going to the web address https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/465881949.
