GN prom dress drive a dress for success

The Island Now

Thank you to President Shantay Carter from Women of Integrity for your leadership and inspiration and for reaching out to us enabling the Great Neck community to assist you and your organization in your annual prom dress drive.

I would also like to thank Ken Bleck of Nu-Clear Cleaners for his generosity in dry-cleaning numerous gowns donated, and to Alan Mindel of the Inn at Great Neck for the use of their wardrobe rack.  Thanks go out too to all of the women, of all ages, who came to the Village of Great Neck Plaza’s call and went through their closets and donated so many beautiful prom dresses.

We were overwhelmed by the terrific response in this first drive.  We collected 97 prom dresses. Some were even brand new with the price tags still attached.  Additionally, we received donations of gently used accessories, such as clutches, jewelry, shoes and everything to make a young woman’s prom night a memorable experience.

All of this was to assist Women of Integrity, Inc., a non-profit organization in Hempstead dedicated to empowering and educating women of all ages and ethnicities.  We wish all these ladies a fantastic prom night.  These young women have worked hard to get to this milestone event and we want you to know that we send our best wishes from Great Neck to have a fabulous time at your prom.
