GOP win would be loss for 47%

The Island Now

If you would like some indication of what is in store if the Republicans win the election for president and gain a Republican majority in the Senate,  please consider what can be expected.

Recently we received a clarification on the 47 percent of the people who do not file income taxes and Romney labeled as “dependent” on the government. Among that 47 percent are disabled veterans or the families of the military who have been killed.

This week a Republican Senator (unnamed) put a hold on these payments, depriving the unanimous consent that was needed to apply a cost-of-living increase to these payments. That means they would not get a cost of living increase.  When this was made public, the outcry was so great that the hold was postponed, until after the election.

What does that tell you, dear readers? It means that they don’t want to prevent Republicans from being elected. But what does that say about what we they could do if elected? Is that an indication of what could happen to the most vulnerable and deserving of our people in a Republican controlled government?
