Great Neck man kicks police officer in Glen Head

A Great Neck man kicked a police officer while being arrested for an alleged assault in Glen Head on Wednesday night, according to the Nassau County Police Department’s Sixth Squad.

Officers responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Todd Drive on Wednesday, Feb. 17 around 10:10 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed Michael Molina, 30, of 12 Welwyn Road, “banging on the front door and screaming obscenities.”according to a statement from the department, o

“[Molina] ignored multiple verbal commands to step away from the door and kept screaming,” the statement read. “As the officers attempted to place the defendant into custody, he began to flail his arms and refused to be handcuffed. After a brief struggle, he was placed into custody.”

As officers were placing Molina in the rear seat of their police vehicle, the statement continued, Molina intentionally kicked an officer on his right side causing substantial pain to the officer’s arm and shoulder. The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Molina has been charged with assault in the second degree, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned Thursday, Feb. 18, in Mineola, where he was represented by the Legal Aid Society Of Nassau County, and is expected to return to court on Feb. 25.
