A Hicksville man was arrested in East Hills Thursday after fleeing a physical fight with his girlfriend in June where he slashed her hand and pulled her hair out of her head, Nassau County police said.

Luis Urrutia, 30, of Princess St., is charged with three counts of second-degree assault, third-degree robbery, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree coercion, fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Police said Urrutia got into a verbal argument with his 21-year-old girlfriend who has not been identified on June 16 in their Hicksville home.

During that fight, police said Urrutia slashed his girlfriend’s hand with a box cutter, ripped some hair out of her head and forcibly removed her cell phone from her as she tried to call the police.

Police said Urrutia then pushed the couple’s 1-year-old daughter to the ground, causing her to hit her head, before fleeing on foot. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for their injuries after the altercation.

Police said they tracked Urrutia’s cell phone to a home on Andover Road in East Hills on Thursday, where he resisted arrest and injured an officer in the process.

According to police, Urrutia also had an open Family Court arrest warrant.

Urrutia is set to be arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
