Manhasset voters approved the school district’s $99.5 million budget Tuesday along with capital reserve fund designations that will bring new classrooms to Munsey Park Elementary School and an elevator to the secondary school among five other projects.
Residents also re-elected Board of Education President Regina Rule and Trustee Christine Monterosso.
With 1,506 people weighing in on the budget, turnout was slightly higher than last year’s figure of 1,416.
About 69 percent of voters approved of the budget, with 466 voting against it.
“I am grateful to our community for their ongoing support of the Board and for their active partnership and participation in ongoing dialogue to support excellence in education,” Rule said in an email.
The proposition to appropriate $4.83 million toward seven capital reserve projects passed with 70 percent approval.
Each school will get a share of those funds. Shelter Rock Elementary School will get a new security vestibule and the loading dock will be reconstructed, Munsey Park Elementary School will have a classroom reconfiguration and Manhasset Secondary School will gain a security vestibule, elevator and social-emotional learning wing.
Rule and Monterosso received 1,181 and 1,152 votes respectively.
“I’m very grateful that the people of Manhasset have given me the opportunity to serve again, and I’m looking forward to all that we can accomplish for our children during the next three years,” Monterosso said.
The district has 14,136 registered voters.
More than half of Tuesday’s voters were between the ages of 40 and 59, according to the district.
