Martins contributions casts cloud over project

The Island Now

I ceased reading Sen. Martins’ articles. For myself, I had enough family beddy-bye stories.

As for Sen. Martins in Albany, he is merely doing what he was elected to do. I would only add that when he began his first senatorial campaign, it was impossible to miss that he ceased  caring anything about Mineola as mayor. Rules about campaign donations are in place for a reason and it matters not even if what is not allowed is only two cents worth of one’s contributions.

There is an implication that one is expected to bend at someone’s request. I noted 140, 146, 150 and 160 Old Country Road:

Four addresses in two buildings that will be one building (if I have it correct) if the day ever comes and the Winston is built. I am not sure but I believe the future Churchill is now an empty lot and would not qualify as a LLC. I ask myself: “Oh what, oh what could Mr. Polemini want from Albany that he could not get ‘over the counter?’ No doubt the shadow over this and 250 Old Country Road seems to darken. I still don’t know what Winston Churchill has to do with it.

Every week I see virtually the same articles that amount to ‘spewer in the sewer’ and ‘mutter in the gutter.’ I only read them for the record as I imagine others do also.

I will, however ,happily comment on (Oct. 19 issue)  Bing Tang’s; “Capitalism in U.S. aided by ‘socialism.’”

It strikes me as a search for values. As we know, government by and for The People is long established. We pay as a tax or perhaps better to say we pay into a fund for Social Security and Medicare. If there was no retirement the unemployment percentage would be much higher with everyone having to fend for themselves no matter what their age. There are some who are alone in this world with no one to lean on.

It is quite difficult at lets say age 85 with poor health to provide for oneself. One is not robbed of their dignity being that one paid weekly for something in the future. There are other taxes we pay that are used for specific reasons as mentioned in Bing Tang’s article.

These things are in part what taxes are for; to care for the people. We paid it, it belongs to us..

Some things can best be done by the federal government or state government or institutions or even individually: whatever is needed and works best.

As for words: many words become tainted such as socialism, socialist and evolution, etc. Development is still quite clean in lieu of evolution.

Some people are more social than others or should I say gregarious. Others at times like solitude which also has value. That is not to say they are antisocial. Words have many meanings.

We have the Republican candidate for president continually jabbing “I am going to create jobs.” Be credible. Provide at least two examples. I take that as plural and that it means job categories. That means a minimum of two and I can’t think of two things to create jobs for that we don’t already have plenty of. Times have changed but systems have not.

The future of Social Security and Medicare depend on proper and equitable wages and salaries now! Not on some mysterious fantasy.

Big businesses are working to make serfs of those who’s skills create the wealth.

Therefore, they are no less than a domestic enemy of The People.

The same is true in other countries where the wealth has been siphoned off and the governments are left bankrupt.
