Community leaders in Mineola celebrated the grand opening of Mill Creek Residential’s apartment complex Modera Metro Mineola at a ceremony last Thursday.

The Mineola Board of Trustees attended the ceremony along with Mill Creek officials and Long Island business leaders. The project, built on land purchased from Corpus Christi Church, was approved in 2016 as part of the village’s plan for revitalizing the downtown area.

“Mineola launched a significant effort to transform the village and its downtown years ago, taking advantage of its substantial work force and convenient transit to become a true live-work-play destination,” Mineola Mayor Scott Strauss said.

Strauss commended Mill Creek, saying it had played an integral part in bringing new residents into the village at the apartment building on Searing Avenue. The building’s strength is its proximity to numerous offices, government buildings, restaurants, shops and cultural offerings, Strauss said.

“With a shared vision on lifestyle and development, Mill Creek has proven to be a great partner in continuing to shape the future of the Village of Mineola,” Strauss said.

Russell Tepper, the senior managing director of Mill Creek’s Northeast division, said the apartment complex provides residents with the ease of commuting to New York City due to its proximity to the Mineola train station.

“Mill Creek identified a need to provide well-appointed housing to serve Nassau County’s robust workforce, who are looking for a unique living experience in a diverse, walkable destination,” Tepper said.

The residences at Modera Metro Mineola will include a mix of studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, with rents starting at $2,295 for studios and ranging up to $3,875 for the largest two-bedroom homes, Mill Creek spokesman Eric Johnson said.
