A motorcyclist died Friday in Albertson after colliding with a car, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The motorcycle operator, Joshua Helfenbein of Seaford, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police report.

The collision occurred at 11:17 a.m. at the intersection of I.U. Willets Road and Albertson Avenue.

Helfenbein, 29, was operating a 2014 Harley Davidson and heading east on I.U. Willets Road, said public information officer Steve Zacchia.

A 70-year-old man driving a Hyundai Elantra was heading west on the same road. He then began to turn left onto Albertson Avenue.

“When the car was making the turn it was struck by the motorcycle, which was continuing eastbound through the intersection,” Zacchia said.

The man operating the Hyundai, whom Zacchia declined to identify, remained at the scene. There was no arrest.

Helfenbein suffered trauma injuries, the report said.

Both of the vehicles were impounded for safety checks, Zacchia said.
