The New Hyde Park-based Piece Management Inc. will expand in Nassau County instead of out of state due to tax breaks granted by the Industrial Development Agency last Wednesday, according to Newsday.

Piece Management, which constructs the interiors of commercial stores, will go forward with a $6.7 million plan to buy and renovate a 41,000-square-foot building in Westbury to house a warehouse, according to Newsday.

Company owner Michael Sumersille said he had thought about expanding in places with lower operation costs than Nassau, like Maryland Massachusetts, New Jersey or Suffolk County, Newsday reported.

Based on the tax incentives, Sumersille will stay in Nassau.

The property tax rate on the Westbury building will be frozen after three years, followed by increases of 0.73 percent in each of the following 12 years, Newsday reported.

The agency also awarded a sales-tax exemption of up to $112,988 on the purchase of construction materials, equipment and supplies, and $44,625 off the mortgage recording tax, according to Newsday.

Piece promised to hire 23 people by 2021 in return, according to Newsday.
