The New Hyde Park Lady Jaguars went undefeated in the Annual North Hempstead Cup GU11 Bracket A Division held on Oct 6 at the Plainview Soccer Park.
The first game was a hard fought 2-0 victory over a very talented East End Football club team. Both goals were scored by Mary Tsahas with assists by Zoe Winston, Alex Caldwell, and Vrisida Bouzos.
The second game was against Old Bethpage Breakers. It was a true team effort with scores by Sammie Coope (2), Alex Caldwell (2), and Linda Artusa. Assists were credited to Zoe Winston (2), Caitlin McDonough (2), Aisling McGrath, and Mary Tsahas who rounded out the well-balanced attacks.
The final game was against a very tough Levittown Supersonics squad. This match was won by a score of 2-0 with goals by Sammie Coope and Sammie Corrigan, assisted by Zoe Winston and Alex Caldwell.
The team defense was superb all day.
Goalies Linda Artusa and Nora Higgins led the defense of Andrea Bouzos, Jillian Fager, Samantha Corrigan and Caitlin McDonough while shutting out some very tough and talented teams.
Coaches Brian Higgins and Tom McGrath credited the girls for their team play and hard work during training.
