Old Westbury’s Michael S. Zetlin, who is a co-founding partner of Zetlin & De Chiara LLP, a construction law firm, will be one of two guests of honor at the New York Building Congress’s Wednesday gala.

Zetlin, who serves as general counsel to the New York Building Congress, will be recognized for his legal career at the gala, which last year drew more than 1,000 people, according to Zetlin & De Chiara.

The New York Building Congress is a trade association that unites professionals from New York City’s construction industry.

“It is a privilege to serve the development community with the attorneys at Zetlin & De Chiara and contribute to New York’s rejuvenation during one of its most robust building cycles,” Zetlin said.

Best Lawyers in America, which publishes an annual book of legal referrals after conducting surveys and polls, has included Zetlin since 2007. He has been named among the publication’s 2019 “Lawyers of the Year.”

Zetlin and Michael De Chiara founded their firm in 1992. It offers counsel before and during construction, according to its website.

Zetlin is on Columbia University’s Industry Advisory Committee of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. He is also on Pratt Institute’s board of trustees.

He is general counsel for the American Institute of Architects’ New York chapter and was formerly on the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry.

Zetlin earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering at Columbia University and a law degree at Fordham University.
