A house fire in Old Westbury late Thursday night required more than a dozen departments and about four hours to extinguish, officials said.

Westbury Fire Department Chief John Bartunek said the fire at 5 Tatem Way in Old Westbury began shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday and took about two hours to control, and firefighters were on the scene another two hours until about 3:15 a.m.

During that time, Nassau County Police Department closed a section of Store Hill Road.

Bartunek said 14 departments, including Westbury, were on the scene with ambulance companies, the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management, Nassau County Fire Communications and the Red Cross.

No residents were injured in the fire, but Bartunek said four firefighters reported minor injuries.

“We had a blood drive earlier in the day, and guys gave blood and then they worked hard,” Bartunek said. “It just kicked their butts.”

The Nassau County fire marshal’s office said the fire has been ruled accidental, possibly from an electrical failure.

The 12,000-square-foot home, which is currently listed for sale, was built in 2001 and has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Zillow estimated the home’s value at $3.9 million.
