Person struck by train near Mineola Tuesday night has died: MTA

A person who was struck by an eastbound LIRR train near Mineola on Tuesday night has died, MTA officials say.

The incident happened near the Mineola station at approximately 6:37 p.m. earlier this week. Everyone aboard the train was unharmed.

There were delays of 45 to 60 minutes on the Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma, Oyster Bay and Huntington branches in both directions on the Long Island Rail Road.

Officials said the preliminary investigation found no suspected criminality.
