An employee at a Great Neck Plaza supermarket was arrested on Friday for sexually abusing a 7-year-old boy, according to Nassau County police.

Detectives said the boy and his grandfather were shopping at the Best Market on Great Neck Road when the employee took the child into the bottle recycling room.  He then stuck his hands into the boy’s pants, according to the police report.

Once the child returned home, he told his father, who went back to the grocery store and called the police, detectives said.

The employee, 34-year-old David Bonom, was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree sexual abuse, according to the police.

According to First District Court in Hempstead, Bonom was released under conditional probation supervision at his arraignment on Sunday. His next scheduled court date is Wednesday.

In an interview with Newsday on Sunday night, Bonom’s attorney, Marc Gann, said, “I’m aware of the allegations and haven’t had an opportunity to investigate them yet.”

Best Market did not respond to a request for comment.

Detectives asked anyone who may have been a victim of a similar incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911.
