Nassau County police are seeking the public’s help in finding the hit-and-run driver who killed a man in Thomaston four months ago.

The culprit drove a gray or bluish-gray Nissan Rogue made between 2009 and 2015 when he hit 43-year-old Oren Bennaeim while he was crossing Middle Neck Road near Barstow Road on the morning of Sept. 30, 2016, police said.

Bennaeim was pronounced dead six days later at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.

The car, which was heading southbound when it hit Bennaeim, has major damage to its headlight and fender area on the passenger side, police said.

Bennaeim’s wife, Jivanna Bennaeim, has said several cameras captured the car after it fled the scene, but none were able to read its license plate number.

Jivanna Bennaeim is working to get a traffic light installed at the intersection where her husband, a former paratrooper in the Israeli army, was killed.

Anyone with information about the crime should call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-244-8477, or Nassau County police Det. Gary Ferrucci at 516-573-7788 or 516-573-7793.
