The Port Washington Fire Department is holding a pasta dinner to support one of its members.

Miguel Alvarado, a longtime member of the department, has had to deal with “catastrophic” medical bills, according to a flier sent out by Fire Chief Bryan Vogeley. Alvarado’s wife, Rosa, recently suffered a severe brain aneurysm, and the pasta dinner will raise money to help cover her rehabilitation expenses.

The dinner will be held on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Protection Engine Company, located at 14 South Washington St. in Port Washington. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under. All proceeds will go to the Alvarado family. Donations are also accepted.

Alvarado has served with the Port Washington Fire Department for more than 15 years as a member of Protection Engine Company No. 1. He previously held the office of assistant engineer and currently serves as the company steward.

“He has dedicated so much of his time to protecting the citizens, lives, and property of the Port Washington community by responding to countless emergencies during his … career,” Vogeley wrote.

The pasta dinner will be all you can eat, and the price of admission will cover food and a soft drink. Other foods available will include meatballs, sausage, garlic bread, salad and homemade desserts. Those not interested in soft drinks can have tea or coffee. Beer and wine will also be sold separately at the event.
