Super FL Mart opened its latest store on Saturday in Mineola.

The store is the 12th in the chain, all under different names, and replaced the former King Kullen at 52 Jericho Turnpike.

The Zhang family has been in the supermarket business for 25 years. Eric Zhang, 33, said he thought Mineola was the “perfect location” for a store.

Zhang said the opening was “extremely insane,” with a line out the door, but admits it is not a perfect indicator for the future of the business.

“The opening is just fool’s gold,” Zhang said. “You don’t know if it’s going to be a success because it might just be people coming in for the free gifts.”

Zhang said the opening event was filled with Mineola residents and people from Queens,  where many of Zhang’s stores are located.

Other stores in the chain are located in Brooklyn and Philadelphia.

Super FL takes over a store that has been unused since King Kullen closed in October 2014. When Zhang first presented his plan to the Mineola Board of Trustees in March, he said the store would help Mineola’s economy.

“It’s a very large place so we will employ a lot of locals,” Zhang said at a March Board of Trustees meeting.

Super FL is open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
