A Queens man was arrested Sunday evening for allegedly assaulting a woman in Manhasset and then kicking and spitting on police officers, the Nassau County Police Department’s the 6th Squad said in a release.

Police responded to a radio assignment for a disturbance at 1170 Northern Boulevard in Manhasset around 5:54 p.m. at Sept. 13, according to detectives.

“Upon arrival, they discovered the defendant, Hubert Lewis, 60, of 80-45 Winchester Boulevard [Queens Village], had shoved a 62-year-old female victim from behind,” police said in a statement.

The department added that during the course of the investigation, “the defendant ignored repeated verbal commands and grabbed an officer by the shirt.”

“While placing the defendant into custody, he kicked, spit on and wrestled with the officers,” detectives said.

Police said that following the incident, two officers were transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained and exposure to bodily fluids.

Lewis is charged with one count apiece for menacing, harassment, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. Police say Lewis will be arraigned “when medically practical.”
