Two Queens men were arrested for multiple crimes within Nassau County that involved allegedly stealing credit cards and other valuables in Old Westbury and Garden City, according to the Nassau County Police Department’s electronics squad.
According to detectives, at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the parking lot of 270 Wheatley Road in Old Westbury, defendants Kevin Alvarado, 23, of 8303 32nd Ave., Queens and Jonathan Millan, 19, of 2360 96th St. in Jackson Heights, “while working in concert, did enter [a] vehicle and removed a driver’s license, car keys and multiple credit cards without permission to do so.”
Police say they then made various purchases with the credit cards valued at approximately $1,200 in US currency.
The investigation led detectives to the parking lot of 158 Woodbury Road in Hicksville where the defendants were located and, at 1:30 p.m., “placed under arrest without incident,” according to the police.
Further investigation determined that the two defendants were also responsible for removing assorted credit cards, personal papers, and a watch from the parking lot of 174 Post Road in Old Westbury at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 12. Police say the proceeds and purchases were valued at approximately $17,000 in US currency.
The two were also determined to be responsible for a July 21 incident where assorted credit cards, cash, and an Apple Watch were removed from the parking lot of 315 Stewart Ave. in Garden City. The proceeds were valued at approximately $1,000.00 in US currency.
The investigation is ongoing, and the NCPD said in a statement that they were assisted by the Garden City Police Department in conjunction with the Old Westbury Police Department.
Alvarado and Millan are each charged with seven counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, one count of grand larceny, four counts of identity theft, four counts of criminal possession of stolen property, and four counts of petit larceny. They were arraigned in Mineola.
